Rosenthal’s signature workshop, The DbD Experience is a 34-hour intensive weekend created and taught by 83-year-old legendary, interdisciplinary artist Rachel Rosenthal. Ms. Rosenthal developed the method during the 12 years of training performers for her Instant Theatre Company in the 50's and 70's in Los Angeles. Rosenthal has continued to perfect and hone the method since that time, teaching her students the concept of “total theater” and “instant ensemble”. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
The work in the 8–Week Class is both improv-isational and structured. We divide time between exercises, processes and improvised theatre, and pieces brought in by the participants as solos, collaborative duets and group works, conceived outside of class and performed for feedback and development. In general, the D.b.D. Experience is a prerequisite for the 8-Week Class, unless otherwise specified by Rachel Rosenthal, based upon a students previous experience with improvisational theater.
